To take part in an online course you will need the following equipment:

  1. A desktop computer or laptop, this device will be used to participate in class and a smartphone/tablet (this device will be used for listening and viewing).
  2. A set of headphones and a microphone that works well and is fixed (because the hand used for writing cannot lift or adjust the microphone and headphones all the time).
  3. The Internet connection must be stable/the cable must be plugged directly into the device being used.
  4. Do not use a touchpad
  5. The room must be closed, quiet and not be used for other activities at the same time as learning: eating, chatting, making phone calls…

Notes on quality control and final testing for each language level:

  1. Any student registering for Level A2 or above who has not previously studied at German Workout must take a placement test. Registration for the level test is available at any time. The placement test is free of charge.
  2. After completing the guided self-study programme, students can register for the level test to determine whether they have reached the required standard. The fee for this test is €50. The level test is similar to the Goethe test format. Students can choose any test date, but must register at least five working days in advance. German Workout will arrange the oral test (either on the same day or the day after the written test).

Details on lection tests and exams:

  1. After each lesson at each level, students will take a test. To pass, they must achieve a minimum score of 60/100. If more than one third of the tests for a level achieve a score below 50%, the level is considered incomplete and cannot be taken to the final exam.
  2. All courses include a final exam. Students are not required to attend. Those who wish to take the final exam at a later time must register and pay the exam fee, as detailed in point 2.
  3. The final exam for the German Workout course is only available to students on the course and to those who purchase the German Workout self-study package.
